HarborPath Receives Third Consecutive Grant from Elton John AIDS Foundation toSupport Outreach Expansion

Columbia, SC – October, 2015, HarborPath, an organization which provides a single point of access to HIV/AIDS medications through its patient assistance program, has been awarded a grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The grant funding will be used to expand HarborPath’s outreach activities in order to provide more uninsured individuals living with HIV/AIDS with access to their life-saving medications at no cost. This is the third consecutive time that the Elton John AIDS Foundation has honored HarborPath as a grant recipient in pursuit of achieving greater health equity for the most vulnerable populations.

“We are very honored to receive this newest grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, whose support over the past three years has been invaluable to the success of HarborPath’s program to serve the uninsured with HIV/AIDS. This grant funding will allow us to expand to more locations where there are large numbers of uninsured people who will now have access to HIV/AIDS medications which are critical to their health,” said Ken Trogdon, Jr., President of HarborPath. “This year marked HarborPath’s third year of operation and over 10,000 prescriptions filled through our online portal program. The support of partners such as the Elton John AIDS Foundation cannot be measured, but their generosity is directly resulting in lives saved and the improved health of uninsured individuals living with HIV/AIDS who can now access the medications they need.”

HarborPath provides an online portal which streamlines the process for healthcare professionals and case managers to apply for medications on behalf of uninsured individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Through one online application, multiple medications can be accessed from HarborPath’s participating manufacturers. The donated medications are delivered at no cost to qualified individuals through HarborPath’s contract mail-order pharmacy.
